This is how you make sure that your website links are open and functional. (*Link analysis in bulk).
In this article, I will share information about how you can make sure that your website's links are open and functional.
Websites consist of content linked to links / URLs. The URLs are the door that shows the way to the content of the website. If a web address is broken, it means that the door cannot be opened and that the content of the website cannot be accessed by search spiders and the public. Thus, the website loses its potential and all that it could mean.
The size of sites' content varies, but the larger sites can consist of several thousand links. Manually debugging several thousand links is not a sustainable concept. Based on this, the following link analysis method can be used to rationalize and determine the link status of your web page.
This method is based on the following software being used in unison:

Start by creating a blank Spreadsheet in Google.

Add all your links to column A (first column on the left) in your Spreadsheet.

Open the App Script tab and add the following code.
- Click Save in Google Apps Script (the green marked area in image below).
5. Click Run in Google Apps Script to analyze your links in your spreadsheet. (the green marked area in image below).
Depending on how many links you have, the "timeout" parameter in the code may need to be adjusted/ extended. Add a value that is appropriate based on how many links you have (more links=higher time value).
If you want to perform regular analyzes of your links using this method, select the "triggers" tab in Google Apps Script (found in the left field / the green marked area). Specify how often you want to trigger the link analysis by selecting hours, days, etc. and click save.

Note that links that are reachable and OK are named by the script with the name “Reachable”. To make it even clearer, I have used condition-dependent formatting in my spreadsheet and in connection with this created rules that are linked to color. In this case it is connected to Reachable to the color green via the conditional formatting feature. Likewise when it comes to weblinkś error codes such as 404, 402, 403, 500 that these values are connected to the color red via conditional formatting.
In the next step, I have chosen to create a pie chart that gives me the opportunity to get an overall overview - the value percentage is used in the respective field in the chart circle.
In my case, I have chosen to analyze my web page links every hour. This is based on settings in time triggers in Google Apps Script. This also means that the pie chart is updated automatically after each analysis, i.e. once/ hour.
So what is the point of this link analysis method?
The point of analyzing web links is to determine the status of the web links. For example, if you sell something on one or more of your web links and this web link(s) are broken, you will see this when the analysis is done via the method I describe above. You discover broken links faster and can take action faster - means that the damage/ loss is less.
If you have several hundred website or blog links and if you do not have these in a ready-made list format, then you can use the following technique to quickly collect your website links that you should add to your spreadsheet in the first column on the left (A column) before you choose to analyze the status of the web links via the Google Apps Script that I specified above.
This is a method that can be used to determine link status, of course there are other methods for this as well and which method is best for the objective can be discussed.
