Https -> (s) stands for security and generally an https link is much safer than an http link BUT you should be aware that an https link can be infected with viruses. *There is thus no guarantee that an https link is virus-free.

You should be observant if you are directed to click on a link, regardless of who is directing you to do so. There may be reasons for the referral that are not legitimate/ benign.

Precisely for this reason, it is advocated not to take chances, i.e. do not click on the link to which you are directed. In this way, you minimize the risk of being exposed to viruses via https links.

Ask yourself the basic questions:

Why would someone want you to click on the link, why wouldn't someone want to send you the information in a regular email? If you have provided your phone number in a form, why do they refer to a link in the answer and opt out of calling you? What makes the publisher/ link owner choose to use reference to a link? (To obscure/ hide some of their information?). What is the purpose from the publisher/ link owner?

Make it easy and safe for yourself -> don't click (*even if it is a https link).
